Тhe international conference Sustainability Forum Sofia – More Than Green concluded with a gala ceremony where official certificates were presented for the first two pilot projects certified under DGNB Bulgaria system.

A golden DGNB certificate was presented to representatives of the investors from ECE Projektmanagement Bulgaria, Plamen Ilchev, for Serdika Center Sofia and SIMMO, Martin Weinwurm, for Serdika Offices.

DGNB is the newest system for certification of sustainable buildings and defines itself a second generation system. In its structure the system corresponds to the European and internationally developed standards in the sustainable construction field. The qualities of the building are evaluated from the point of view of the three pillars of sustainable development – ecology, economy and social integrity. The system includes the phases of design, construction, exploitation and demolition or the “life cycle” approach. The DGNB system is specialized for different types of buildings – offices, industrial, residential, trade centers, hotels, educational institution buildings.

The adaptation of the German DGNB system for Bulgaria is carried out by the Bulgarian Green Building Council (BGBC) following the international agreement with the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). In accordance with the agreement, the Bulgarian Council has the right to apply, adapt and develop the systematic for sustainability. The aim of the Council is to influence the development and implantation of the sustainable technologies and practices by making popular the achievements in this field among architects, investors and all the participants in the regional development and public works at a local and state level. This makes the pilot projects critical in importance in the implementation of the system in Bulgaria.

After the building certification ceremony followed the recognition of the first two DGNB auditors in Bulgaria – arch. Vessela Valtcheva – McGee and eng. Dimitar Penev who were presented with DGNB auditor diplomas.

The event was closed with a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works – Lilyana Pavlova.
