The seminar attracted over 50 attendants
During the second day of the conference Sustainability Forum Sofia – More Than Green the BGBC in collaboration with the German GBC (DGNB), organized an education seminar Introduction to the certification system for sustainable buildings DGNB.
DGNB is the newest rating systems for certification of sustainable buildings and is already defined as a second generation system. Specific quantitative qualities of a building project are rated according to the three pillars defining sustainability – environmental, economic and social integrity. The system encompasses all phases of design and construction as well as the building occupancy and demolition providing what is known as a life-cycle approach. There are varying versions of the system for various building types – office, industrial, residential and commercial centers, hotels and educational institutions.
The adaptation of the German rating system for Bulgaria is realized by the BGBC in accordance to a contractual agreement with the German GBC (DGNB).
The internationally acclaimed expert Michael Dax – Director International Systems DGNB presented the basic principles of the rating system as well as the relationship with current and future European directives and standards. The scope of the qualitative rating as well as specific criteria and the matrix for evaluation were examined, as well as details regarding the adaptation of the system.
This is the first of a series of seminars geared toward professionals from the building design and construction sector. Education programs for DGNB auditors and consultants in Bulgaria will be organized by the BGBC.
