The number of owners and investors who want to include environmental, economic, socio-cultural and functional aspects in the design, construction and management of buildings increases every day. The system was developed by the German Sustainable Building Council (Dеutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen) together with the German Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. DGNB is one of the most influential organizations for sustainable constructions in Europe. The foundation of the DGNB system is thoroughly international and it integrates all of the important requirements imposed by EU legislation and standards. Furthermore, the comprehensive system can be easily adapted to the building culture in another country. It is one of the leading systems worldwide, mainly due to its comprehensive quality concept, which takes equal account of economics, ecology, and socio-cultural aspects and is based on a holistic view of the building‘s entire lifecycle. What are the benefits:

The DGNB training is organized for the first time in Bulgaria and is indispensable for everyone who plans sustainable buildings and wishes to document their quality at an international level. You will learn how to implement the main principles of sustainability in your projects and you will have the possibility to consult projects on the DGNB system.

The new training DGNB Consultant will take place in February and March 2012. In the training course you will be introduced to the DGNB International System, learn how it works and how to use it, and thereby make available to your partners the many advantages of certification:

• Incorporation of all relevant sustainable building aspects in the planning and evaluation process
• Increased attractiveness of the building on the market
• Minimization of risks and construction costs
• Planning and process optimization
• Maximization of building quality and performance
• Higher rents

The training is orientated towards experts that work in the sector of real estate (design, construction and investment) who are willing to expand their activity by offering consulting services on the DGNB certification topic.

Activities of the DGNB Consultant:

• Consultations in the field of sustainable construction and in relation with the advantages of the sustainable projects;
• Consultations in the necessary phases of the certification process;
• Explanation of the requirements of the DGNB certification system and of its separate components;
• Identification of the differences between the separate versions of the system;
• Cooperation in the choice of an auditor.

In the first section of the course you will learn about the structure, methodology, criteria, and the evaluation process of the DGNB International System.

In the second section you will learn about Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costs, as well as practical application of the criteria.

An online exam will be administered to test this knowledge. After successful completion of the training you will receive your certificate for DGNB Consultant.
