Bourgas is the first municipality to organize a forum with the intent of stimulating economic growth and the improvement of quality of life on a regional level. The reason for this is the city leads in the absorption of European funds under Operational Programmes in Bulgaria and serves as an example for the realization of successful public-private partnerships.

Organizers of the forum are The City Media Group in partnership with the Bourgas Municipality, OP Regional development and the Bulgarian Green Building Council.

Balrec Burgas 2010 forum informed local authorities and businesses about the main priorities and opportunities to promote economic development and financing projects in the municipality through investments in infrastructure, urban environment and energy efficiency.
Presented were main prospects and potential opportunities for development in the municipality of Bourgas. Conference participants included the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov, the governor Konstantin Grebenarov, Arch. Belin Mollov - Advisor to the Minister of Regional Development, Veneta Krasteva - Managing Partner of City Media Group, Arch. Georgi Kolarov – President of the Bulgarian Green Building Council and the President of the Chamber of Builders in Burgas Dimitar Yanakiev.
