BALREC - INVESTMENTS AND REAL ESTATE MARKET took place on the 6th of November 2024 at Sofia Event Center. The specialized forum was opened by Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, who shared the intention of Sofia Municipality to continue to support the business community and to work to create better conditions for life and business in the capital. These intentions of the current metropolitan government were supported by the Executive Director of DSK Bank Tsvetoslav Dimov with positive forecast statistics for economic growth in Sofia for the upcoming year 2025.
Adina Welsh opened the green session with a key-note speech on green real estate investments towards net zero future, outlining the trends 2025. The panel dedicated to sustainability, ESG compliance, creating sustainable environments and social value was an outstanding platform for discussion with Thomas Behr (Managing Partner, SOM London, Daniela Boytcheva (Managing Director, CTP Bulgaria), Ekaterina Radeva (Head of Special Projects and ESG Initiatives, Business Park Sofia), Vessela Valtcheva-McGee (Director Market Development CEE, GBCI Europe), Ivelina Nikolova (Country General Manager, Schneider Electric for Bulgaria, Albania, North Macedonia and Kosovo). The panel was elegantly moderated by Iglika Yordanova (Managing Partner, Colliers Bulgaria).
This year the event had a strong international participation. Representatives from leading companies discussed the current geopolitical situation with the conflict in Ukraine affecting the dynamics of the real estate market, financial ESG disclosure requirements for large companies and many other factors that are changing the current landscape of this huge market. However, Gabor Borbelli, MRICS, Director, Head of Research for Central and Eastern Europe, CBRE outlined positive prospects for the development of the sector.
