The internal meetings of the European Network of the Green Building Councils (ERN) were followed by the SBC Greece Sustainable Building Conference, organized by our colleagues from SBC Greece.
The event was officially opened by Theodore Skylakakis, Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece, Yannis Mastrogeorgiou, Special Secretary Strategic Foresight, Presidency of the Government and Ioannis Xifaras, Secretary General, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport of Greece. Cristina Gamboa, the CEO of WorldGBC, gave an official address. Our colleagues from the ERN - Pat Barry, Chair ERN/WorldGBC & CEO, Irish GBC, Richard Teichmann, Vice Chair ERN/WorldGBC, Stephen Richardson, WorldGBC, Director of ERN, Audrey Nugent, WorldGBC Director of Global Advocacy, Laura Pallares, WorldGBC/ ERN Head of Projects and Julie Emmrich, WorldGBC Sustainable Finance Lead, participated in the discussion panels and shared their valuable expertise and work on the changes which are desired and expected by our green construction community.
The event was moderated by our colleagues from SBC, Greece: Alexander Athanassoulas, President, Dimitris Managoudis, Vice-president, Pantelis Levantis, BoD Member, Alexandros Archontidis, Treasurer and Konstantinos Katsakioris Alternate Member of the BoD.
SBC Greece brought together on the stage Kay Kilmann, Managing Director, Green Business Certification Institute Europe, Johannes Kreißig, Chief Executive Officer DGNB, Dan Asquith BREEAM Business Development Manager, BRE Group, Ommid Saberi, Global Co-Lead, EDGE Green Building Program, IFC and Eleftherios Zacharakis, Account Manager EMEA, International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) to present and discuss the five most popular green building certification systems in the world.
We believe that this conference was very useful and impactful for the sustainable construction development in Greece and also in Europe.
